new final proposal
i am fusing my final portfolio concept from a final portfolio that i am producing from my digital photography class based on documenting graffiti and street art. my intention is to create an awareness of the skills and talent that are entailed in creating certain types of graffiti. also, i am making an availability for the viewer to have the opportunity to discern the contrasting elements of spray can vandalism versus graffiti art. On the digital-photo-blog i have provided several references which relate to graffiti, spray-can art, genres of art that resemble similar visual aspects of the street graffiti i have been shooting, and links to several relevant websites. the blogs that i am posting will be forwarded to my digital photography blog: BiancaRusso's Digital Photography Blog.

recycled materials
--reduce, reuse, recycle--
our world is full of STUFF. things. tangible objects. there are so many materials everywhere that are being used for an infinite amount of purposes but they usually meet the end of their life cycle and end up in a garbage heap. many types of materials that are absent-mindedly discarded can be recycled but are not--meeting the death of their period of usefulness. when certain synthetic materials are discarded into a general trash receptacle the non-degradable objects find their way to garbage dumps, bodies of water, vulnerable land, or even in streets...becoming litter, garbage, and trash that is not only displeasing to the beauty of our environment, but also harmful to our world. so why, if we are so knowledgable abou recylcing, do so many of us discard recyclables poorly when they can be reused, or have a reinvented intention? One man's trash is another man's treasure! A transformation from recyclables may potentially provide a rebirth for the materials. one can make are out of anything. as martin kippenburger does, make are out of hings already there. make "useless" things useful. use recyclables. "garbage art"...NOTHING is useless. in order for a plastic bottle to avoid reaching it's ultimatum, one can utitlize that materials to create a new use for that plastic bottle, and to begin a new cycle of life for it. if we re use all the STUFF we have lying around, garbage volume can be significantly reduced and most importantly, we can find the fun in our garbage...this concept brings a whole new meaning to the idea of 'renewable resources.'

Timelessness

Miru Kim's speech perfectly exemplifies an instance where a nude model portrays timelessness within her art. The lack of labels or notable styles from a period of time helps to reinforce the idea of a complete inclusive significance of anything in a photograph; had she been clothed the image may have easily alluded to a time period due to obvious fashions, styles, or labels. Kim's lack of clothing however assists the viewer to be able to focus more broadly on the image. The total message is not blurred at all because there are no distractions. It was clear to me that a message that Kim may have been trying to communicate was that however seemingly unoccupied or dead a structure may seem, the opposite just may be true. The spaces where she made her art were alive with living creatures, living people, and functional shelters for plants as well. But the point that I am referring to again is the accommodation of appropriate signifiers within a photograph because everything is potentially significant.
